QMS STEAM Stations

We want every student at Quioccasin Middle School (QMS) to experience learning through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and math). Our goal is to build a program of student ambassadors, aka Griffin Gurus, to lead the STEAM movement. Our student-led STEAM Stations will promote a strong community of support and engagement by offering student-led professional development for teachers and hands-on help implementing STEAM lessons in the classroom. Help support us in cultivating student leaders so that all of our students can experience STEAM!

Our Quioccasin Middle School Griffin Gurus will help strengthen QMS community of learners. With support from the Gifted Education teacher, instructional technology resource teacher (ITRT), and librarians, our Griffin Gurus will explore coding, design, film, editing, robotics and more. They will have dedicated time in their schedules to learn about and become experts on STEAM topics of their choice. By giving students ownership of the STEAM Stations through the Griffin Gurus course, we hope to build a community where students and teachers support one another. And through this strong community, students will have more ownership and voice in their school and curriculum, and teachers will have a better feel for what engages their students.
